Air Travel Advisory
The following is an IDX Declaration on the transporting of IDX Lithium-Ion Batteries under the 49th Edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (2008) and the US Department of Transportation PHMSA Hazardous Materials; Transportation of Lithium Batteries; Final Rule (effective January 1st, 2008).
Effective January 1, 2008, the following rules apply to traveling with Lithium Ion Batteries as spare batteries on passenger aircraft:
- Spare batteries are the batteries you bring separately from the devices they power. When batteries are installed in a device, they are not considered spare batteries
- You may not pack a spare lithium ion battery in your checked baggage
- You may bring spare lithium ion batteries with you in carry-on baggage
The following quantity limits apply to both your spare and installed batteries. The limits are expressed in grams of "equivalent lithium content." 8 grams of equivalent lithium content is approximately 100 watt-hours. 25 grams is approximately 300 watt-hours:
| Product | Name | Lithium Content |
|---|---|---|
| ELITE | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 5.76g (PC-14 Cartridge) x 2 |
| E-10 | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 7.92g |
| E-10S | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 7.92g |
| E-80 | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 6.84g |
| E-80S | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 6.84g |
| E-7 | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 5.76g |
| E-7S | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 5.76g |
| E-50 | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 4.56g |
| E-50S | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 4.56g |
| NP-L7 | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 5.76g |
| NP-L7S | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 5.76g |
| NP-L50 | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 4.56g |
| NP-L50S | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 4.56g |
| NP-L46 | Lithium-Ion Battery Pack | 4.56g |
| NP-L40 | Lithium-Ion Battery pack | 4.56g |
IDX hereby declares that the battery pack models listed above have aggregate equivalent lithium content well below the 8g requirement
The aggregate equivalent lithium content in the IDX battery packs stipulated above is not more than 8g. Therefore the ELITE (PC-14 cartridge), E-10, E-10S, E-80, E-80S, E-7, E-7S, E-50, E-50S, NP-L7, NP-L7S, NP-L50, NP-L50S, when packed so as to prevent short circuit, can be transported as defined by IATA, Department of Transportation regulations.
