FAQ

1. ENDURA Batteries

Q1-1
What is the different between the E-10 and E-10S, ands the E-7 and E-7S?
A1-1
"S" designates single use. The E-10 and E-7 are able to use PowerLink™ What is PowerLink™ Click here
Q1-2
Are the E-10 and E-10S able to be mounted together?
A1-2
No, they are not. The contacts are different. "S" versions are only for single use.
Q1-3
How many ENDURA batteries can be mounted together?
A1-3
A maximum of 2.
Q1-4
Is it possible to continuously use the batteries when the batteries are used with PowerLink™
A1-4
Yes, it is. You should change the outboard battery as it discharges, otherwise the battery of the camera side will have too much load, the voltage will run down, and the camera may shut off.
Q1-5
How do both batteries discharge when operating in Powerlink™?
A1-5
If you are in PowerLink™ with 2 x E-10 or 2 x E-7 and both are charged to the same level, both batteries will discharge at the same time and down to the same level. If the battery's charge levels are unbalanced, the discharges will be unbalanced too.
Q1-6
Is the PowerLink™ terminal safe for operation in rain?
A1-6
Yes, they have passed the test for JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) CO920 Ingress Protection code (drip-proof type II) There will be no breakage, ignition, smoke or liquid leakage.

2. General Batteries

Q2-1
Can I take IDX batteries on a flight with me?
A2-1
Yes, please see here for more details.
Q2-2
Are Lithium Ion batteries (14.8V DC) able to be used with 12V cameras?
A2-2
Most cameras have an input voltage range between 11(10.5V) - 17V. Therefore, there should be no problem in using them with these cameras.
Q2-3
How often should I discharge Nickel Metal Hydride or Nickel Cadmium batteries to fix the memory effect?
A2-3
Please discharge the batteries to their end of voltage with discharger once a month.
Q2-4
Is it OK to leave the Lithium Ion batteies on the charger after they are fully charged?
A2-4
Lithium Ion batteries have no memory effect. Therefore, it is OK to leave them on the charger. If the charging (LED is on RED) is completed and fully charged, it will be switched to trickle charging (LED is on GREEN).Nickel Hydride and Nickel Cadmium batteries have a memory effect. Please discharge down to their end of voltage with a discharger. What is memory effect? Click here
Q2-5
Is it better to charge when it is store for long term (approx. over 1 month)?
A2-5
Nickel Cadmium battery: Store in a cool place and discharged.Nickel Metal Hydride battery: Store in a cool place (for protection from self discharge) Lithium Ion battery: Store in a cool place and discharged.
Q2-6
What is the the difference in the remaining capacity display between the 5 LED model and the 3 LED model?
A2-6
NP-L7 / E-7 / E-10:5LED The capacity shows each step in 20% increments between 100 and 0%.NP-L7S / E-7S / E-10S:3LED
*** Full charged,** Decreasing capacity / Almost change,*Change
Q2-7
How can I calculate how much run time I can get for each camera?
A2-7
Battery capacity (Wh) / Power consumption of the equipment (W) = Run time (h) Please see here.
Q2-8
How long does it take in charge time for each battery and charger?
A2-8
Please see here.

3. Charger

Q3-1
Are IDX batteries compatible with other chargers?
A3-1
We do not recommend this for warranty purposes.

4. Accessories

Q4-1
What is the difference between the P-V2 and the P-VS2?
A4-1
The P-VS2 has Syncron capability. What is Syncron? Click here
Q4-2
Is it possible to use the A-SWR with P-V2 and P-VS2?
A4-2
The A-SWR is a wireless bracket for SONY V-Mount cameras. You should use the A-UWR if the P-V2 or P-VS2 is used. This product is only for Panasonic and JVC cameras.
Q4-3
SD-1E has two outputs, 12V and 7.2V. What is the actual voltage when a Lithium Ion battery is used?
A4-3
The actual battery voltage will go to the equipment. Please make sure you know what voltage the equipment requires.
Q4-4
What is the battery capacity when SD-1E is used with 7.2V output?
A4-4
It may have a capacity loss due to the DC-DC converter. The capacity will be 85 - 90% of the actual battery capacity.
Q4-5
Which battery is showing capacity on NH-201 and NH-202?
A4-5
It will be showing the average capacity for two batteries.

5. Others

A5-1
How long is the IDX warranty?
A5-5
Please see here for more details.
L-1 PowerLink™
PowerLink

This function is available for ENDURA-10 (E-10), ENDURA-80 (E-80), ENDURA-7 (E-7), ENDURA-50 (E-50) batteries.

-Double The Capacity
The PowerLink™ function is the main feature for those ENDURA batteries mentioned above, which feature was developed to take advantage of the V-Mount form factor. These batteries are made so that the user can parallel two units together, and thus have double the capacity.

E-10: 196Wh, E-80: 164Wh, E-7: 142Wh E-50: 112Wh.
If PowerLink™ is implemented from the start of the shoot, the shooter does not need to worry about long time shooting, and will have ample power for almost any camera.

The advantage of the ENDURA battery system which uses the PowerLink™ function is that you can instantly replace the outboard battery, while the inboard battery continues to operate the camera, The outboard battery can be reloaded with one hand, and there is no need to stop the shoot, no need to worry about a failure to capture the footage.

L-2 Memory effect
Memory effect

Nickel Cadmium batteries and Nickel Metal Hydride batteries have a "memory-effect" in which the voltage drops by 2 levels during discharge after shallow charge/discharge cycles. In applications where the discharge end voltage is highly established, apparent decreases in capacity and operating voltage are shown. This phenomenon doesn't occur after 1 or 2 complete discharge cycles. The frequency of the memory-effect is can have an effect on the life of the battery. This does not appear after shallow charge and discharge cycles. It is advisable to fully discharge the battery on a discharger once a month.

< End of voltage >
Nickel Cadmium battery for 12V: 10 ~ 10.5V
Nickel Metal Hydride battery for 13.2V: 11 ~ 11.5V

- Lithium Ion batteries have no memory-effect.

L-3 Syncron
Syncron

Syncron is a function of the P-VS2 plate.

It will automatically turn the camera light ON or OFF. The portable camera light is automatically turned ON/OFF, as it is linked with camera record button.

Please use this function with loads below 85Wh, when the power is supplied by PowerLinked batteries and they are fully charged.
